October 30, 2024: Congratulations to Cohesive’s Akshay Maharajh who has received a prestigious ‘young achiever’ award from the facilities management sector.
The award, from the South African Facilities Management Association and Africa Facilities Management, recognises an “exceptional facilities manager under the age of 35 who is actively engaged in the FM industry…. has demonstrated outstanding professionalism… and (has) achieved notable successes in their career.”
Akshay, who graduated in industrial engineering, leads our provision of advisory support for our real-estate and facilities management solutions, including Planon, the industry-leading real estate and facilities management software.
He supports estates teams globally with portfolio optimisation initiatives and with translating their ESG goals into actionable metrics that can be monitored and improved.
Akshay’s current projects include providing FM advisory insights on a new skyscraper in Singapore.
Still under construction, Akshay is currently overseeing the rollout of Planon as a platform to support the developer’s smart building objectives, alongside Schneider Electric (Singapore).
His other notable achievements have included supporting the Auckland University of Technology with its implementation of a campus management system accessible by more than 6,000 users. He has also implemented a portfolio management solution for a government institute in New Zealand responsible for managing over 9 000 buildings.
The solution enables the organisation to consolidate all maintenance information from various service providers as well as residential/commercial real estate information – facilitating effective decision making on a strategic level.
Akshay, who received his award at a gala evening during the Africa FM International conference in Cape Town, said: “I am honoured to accept this award and immensely thankful to SAFMA and AFM for recognising me as a top, young FM professional in Africa. Each morning, I rise with the goal of promoting FM globally and reintroducing its best practices to Africa.
“My global responsibilities, coupled with my deep passion for this industry, help me reach this objective, which provides me with immense fulfilment. I would like to thank the Planon FM team at Cohesive for the continuous high standards which we hold ourselves accountable to – this award is every bit yours as it is mine.”
