As part of Stena AB, one of the largest family-owned companies in Sweden, Stena Drilling has a rich heritage.
But the contractor, which provides drilling units and related services for the oil and gas exploration and production industries, is also constantly looking to innovate and adopt new technologies.
Regarding digital transformation as a ‘strategic enabler’, it has worked with Cohesive since 2019 to ensure its assets are managed as effectively as possible, using the digital Maximo enterprise asset management (EAM) system.
Now, our partnership has moved into the next chapter, as we work together to implement the Maximo Application Suite (MAS) – a single, integrated platform that uses AI, IoT and analytics to optimise performance, extend asset lifecycles and reduce operational downtime.
Cohesive will be providing Stena Drilling with both implementation and advisory services for the upgrade of its existing 7.6.1.3 Maximo system which is used as a core system across the company’s fleet.
The upgrade will include use of Cohesive’s data replication (CDR) and data utility (CDU) applications which helps our clients to eliminate downtime during upgrade and data migration processes.
Our CDR enables data to be distributed to remote offices and mobile workers – providing a corporate level quality of service where connectivity may be intermittent or unavailable, such as out at sea.
Stena Drilling will use our dedicated Cohesive Maximo Cloud to host the service, with Cohesive taking responsibility for all maintenance.

Our responsibilities will include technical workshops with the Stena Drilling team, full end-to-end testing of each vessel environment and heightened levels of support throughout the early stages of the ‘go live’ period.
